Sacred Right

After seeing the reaction of people afraid they might lose the ability to kill their unborn children, a verse popped into my mind.  I’ll get to that in a minute, but first I’ll explain my thought process.  My initial reaction to these people’s reactions was one of disbelief.  “How is it possible to think this way?” I asked.  I mean, it almost seems impossible for any human being to naturally come to the conclusion that killing unborn children is a “sacred right”.  It’s almost like an outside force has to be involved for people to reach this level of depravity.  That’s when the verse popped in.

You see, we aren’t fighting a battle against flesh and blood.   (Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.)  Think about that for a second.  There is much more going on behind the scenes than we realize.  “Spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” or the spiritual realm.  What we have been witnessing is truly Satanic behavior because dark forces are at work.  Human beings, all of us, are like sheep: easily molded and transformed by popular opinion, peer pressure, deception, and ultimately our own desires.  That’s really where the buck stops.  When all is said and done, what you believe is ultimately fashioned by the desires of your heart.  Make no mistake, the evil one knows that and has been using that to his advantage all throughout history.  Thousands of years ago he had people murdering their infants to secure favor with their false gods.  Today he has them doing it for another false god, themselves.  Either way, when people want something it won’t take too much convincing to justify it.  This is why it is so imperative that we learn from the source of truth.

I was finding myself very angry at these people.  I just have to remember, that they are deceived just like I was.  Many of them without any good sources of truth in their lives.  They really need God’s help.  If only these people understood that the very thing they want (love, acceptance, peace, freedom) is only obtained by following Jesus: the source of life.
