Enter through the narrow gate… (Matthew 7:13-14) When you are faced with a decision you have two choices. One choice is logical and reserved, the other is emotionally charged. Either way life is set in motion. Life is a series of interlocking choices that lead us on a path, the destination is a place of our choosing. Choices can be as mundane as ketchup or mustard on a hotdog, or as serious as cutting the blue or white wire on a time bomb. Usually, the choices we make are the product of our upbringing, an undisciplined and unfiltered void of any spiritual guidance. As Christians our choices should be GOD centered asking the question “Is this decision alright with Jesus?” Are you resolved to follow Jesus? How committed are you to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Does knowing GOD help us make better decisions?
I know this may be hard for the world to believe even though we have been saved to serve, we were also created to choose. The choices you make can have far-reaching implications for the future, whether good or bad. Choices are a way of life. Our choices are GOD or things of the world. You can live out the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) or you can follow the traditions of man. (1 John 2:16) Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16) That verse is a choice. Serving GOD is a conscious decision. GOD has given the world a choice, choose either Heaven or Hell. When the world decides neither, guess what? They still made a choice.
You can be proactive or inactive when a decision is being made but remember making choices is inescapable. Usually, choices are weighted by experience and knowledge. The cleaner the experience and knowledge the more righteous your choices will be. The Bible is where the word of life resides; you must read it to make an informed decision. (1 John 1:1) Reading Acts 2 in its entirety sheds some light on how you can choose to become a follower of Jesus Christ. (Acts 11:26) Is it safe to say that choices are learned responses? The more spiritually minded you are the wiser your choices will be. The world makes choices that stand in opposition to the word of GOD. You must come out of the world into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9) How you do it…Well, the CHOICE is yours.
